PTC (Positive Temperature Coefficient) heating elements are widely used in various applications, including hair dryer curlers, due to their self-regulating heating properties and safety features.
A PTC heating element is made from a ceramic material that exhibits a positive temperature coefficient, meaning its resistance increases with temperature. As the element heats up, its resistance increases, which reduces the current flowing through it. Notice:
1) The surface temperature can be selected between 50ºC~280ºC, the tolerance of surface temperature is ±7ºC usually. Rate voltage can be 3V~400V, AC or DC. Customer designed shapes are possible.
2) For getting rapid temperature rising, larger heating power, several PTC pellets are used to assemble into a larger one.
PTC heater with shell
A PTC heater with a shell is composed of one or more PTC stones combined with two aluminum or stainless steel plates as electrodes, encased in insulating material and then encapsulated within a specially designed aluminum shell. This design is tailored for self-regulated heating within confined spaces, such as the inner compartments of electrical equipment, eliminating the need for additional temperature control devices. Notably, this type of PTC heater is distinguished by its high efficiency, reliability, safety, and user-friendly operation.
